Ron Pickford, A. MET., M.I.M.M.M., C.ENG. 1923-2024.
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Ron peacefully at home in his 101st year. He is predeceased by Mary, his wife of 53 years (1998) and son Ronnie (2019). Ron will be greatly missed by his children Angela Absalom, John (Lynn), Theresa, Kathryn (Paul), his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and Margaret Noon (2012) his loving companion of 10 years.
Dad served in the British Royal Navy during World War II flying carrier-borne aircraft (Swordfish) in the Atlantic and Mediterranean Seas. In 2022 Ron Pickford was awarded the rank of Knight of the French National Order of the Legion of Honour for his bravery and service. Dad graduated from Sheffield University as a Metallurgist in 1949 and settled in Canada in 1955. Both Dad and Mummy were extensive travellers and together they enjoyed life to the fullest. Their happy reunion will soften some of the sadness we now feel.
Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph’s Church 409 Paisley Road Guelph Wednesday April 10/2024 at 11 am-with light reception to follow.
