It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Eldon J. Richard (89), on November 28, 2023 surrounded by family in Fergus, ON.
Eldon was the cherished husband of Hilda (Petrie) for 65 years, and adored father of David of Fergus, Betty (Gerry) of Port Elgin, ON, Marc (Lisa) of Cambridge, ON, and Chris (Kris) of Mannheim, ON. Eldon received no greater joy then to be surrounded by his 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Eldon held a special bond with his birth family who resided in New Brunswick and is predeceased by his Father, Alfred Richard and his mother, Josie Richard (Chaisson) along with his brothers Clarence, Alvin, Wilfred, Jimmy, Alfie, Danny and his sister Betty. He is survived by his sisters Nora Kane (Joe) and Yvonne Perry (Buddy) and his brother Joseph (Gail) and numerous nieces and nephews.
Eldon was a true family man who, if he wasn't with his family, could be found conversing with neighbours, harvesting the apple orchard and tilling his garden.
The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the nursing staff and doctors at the Groves Memorial Hospital in Fergus, ON
No words can truly express the true sorrow we have in our hearts and how much we will miss our sweet Pop.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or St. Joseph's Church, Fergus ON.
