Thursday, March 10th, 1932 - Wednesday, October 26th, 2022

On October 26, 2022, Joan went to be with her Lord and reunite with her husband Arthur Snider who left us in May 2018, after 66 years of marriage. Joan was in her 91st year, born March 10, 1932, and recently celebrated her 90th birthday in a gathering with her large family.

Joan was the loving mother to Mark (Sharon); Denis (Charu); Kim; Maryann, and Tom (Jane). Proud Grandmother of 11: Shawn (Ashlee), Matthew (Sarah), Luke (Sarah) and Katrina (Ben); Nicole, Arjun and Anuj; James; Jason (Arlene), Andrew (Megan) and Leah. Doting Great Grandmother to 11: Leeland and Lincoln; Nathan, Emily and Patrick; Jadwin and Jethro; Jack; Evan and Hailey; and Nora.

Joan was born in Toronto and moved to Kitchener at the age of 7. She spent many summers with the Tallman family and cousins in Wilberforce. She met Art, married, and started a family in Kitchener, later moving with their 5 children to Fergus in 1964. She was a stay-at-home mom until all her children were settled in school. She then worked briefly at the original L&M Food Mart on St. Andrew St, Fergus. The majority of her later working life was spent at Groves Memorial Hospital, first in the lab and then as a ward clerk. Our mother loved to bake, sew, knit, crochet and sing – and she had a song for everything or occasion! She loved to be with people, was extremely caring – always wanting first to know how you were – and was accepting of all she met.

Importantly Mom was a Woman of God, deeply spiritual and with a special kind of personal wisdom. She was active briefly at Benton Street Baptist Church (Kitchener), then for many years at Bethel Baptist Church (Fergus) and most recently at Alma Bible Chapel. We were still learning the ways of God from her till the end.

Mom, we know you are belting out songs of praise with dad and the angels now. You are greatly loved and will be forever missed. Watch for us, as we will all join you some day.

Visitation will be held at The Graham Giddy Funeral Home, 280 St. David Street South in Fergus on Monday November 7th from 6-9pm. The funeral service will be held at The Alma Bible Church, 59 Peel Street East in Alma on Tuesday November 8th at 11am followed by a reception.

In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to Hospice Wellington.
