Driver airlifted to trauma centre with life-threatening injuries

Police responded to the single-vehicle crash on Wellington Road 124 just east of Guelph around 2:45 a.m.

On Jan. 19, 2024, at approximately 2:45 a.m., Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a serious, motor vehicle collision on Wellington Road 124, east of Wellington Road 29. Initial reports indicated that a pickup truck had left the roadway, and the lone occupant was seriously injured.

Guelph Wellington Paramedics Service and Guelph/Eramosa Fire Department responded. The driver was airlifted to a trauma centre with life-threatening injuries.

The cause of the collision is still under investigation. The roadway will remain closed while a reconstructionist from the West Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) team are on scene.
