Fergus man charged after passing out behind wheel in live lane of traffic

GUELPH – Approximately 10:30 p.m. Saturday, police were called for a driver passed out in a live lane at Eramosa Road and Stevenson Street North in Guelph.

Officers noted an odour of alcoholic beverage on the driver’s breath and observed an empty liquor bottle in the passenger footwell. He was arrested and transported to the police station, where tests confirmed he had more than the legal amount of alcohol in his system.

A 41-year-old Fergus man is charged with impaired driving. He will appear in court November 14.
