A 27-year-old resident from Southgate Township has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 in a stolen vehicle investigation.

On Friday, the officer with the Wellington County OPP was patrolling Wellington Road 6 when automated license plate recognition system alerted them about a stolen passenger vehicle.

Police located and stopped the passenger vehicle a short time later; the car had been reported stolen to the Dufferin OPP, police say.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph on June 20.

The investigation is ongoing.
