Two charged in vehicle theft investigation

TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON - On Feb. 9, 2024 at approximately 4:45 a.m., the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a vehicle theft on York Street, Elora.

As a result of the investigation, Aiden Jeffrey Magdy, 19-year-old of Cambridge, has been charged with assault with intent to resist arrest, theft over $5,000 of a motor vehicle, possession break-in instruments, possessing automobile master key, mischief - destroys or damages property, and three counts of failure to comply with release order - other than to attend court, contrary to the Criminal Code.

The accused was held for bail.

Further, a 16-year-old resident of Cambridge has been charged with mischief - destroy or damages property, possession of break-in instruments and theft over $5,000 of a motor vehicle contrary to the Criminal Code.

The defendant is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice - Guelph, at a later date.
